Originally built as part of the installation, Hive, the Mandala Lightboxes are individual pieces that have been exhibited separately from that installation.
Composed of an image printed on Xposer, from Bay Photo, a 170 LED array, an arduino, and a hypersonic sensor, each lightbox measurers just over 30″ x 30″. The animation sof the LED array are driven by the arduino and are controlled by the hypersonic sensor. The sensor measures the distance of the viewer from the piece and changes the animation. 4 zones are set up. The arduino can also be programmed to run through a series of animations.
The images on the Xposer are from the Mandala series, which are mandalas generated form my nature photography.
